Morning readers,

It’s the dreaded Monday morning again and the work week has begun all over again. I am at home with my husband, who’s fast asleep after a night shift and my mum whos visiting for a week and it occured to me that my own creative mind is a complicated one, very compicated.

You all know about my writing and my books as you have all been treated from time to time to shorts I post here but you have little knowledge of my other creative outlets. I draw, not well but I draw. I also enjoy taking photo’s of various things, I love the gothic beauty of cemetery photography as well as the beauty of nature’s own creative mind.

This photo was taken at a relatives home in the south of England and its a beautiful flower in ths summer sun.

My creative mind is rarely quiet and it keeps me active, even when I’m meant to be asleep. Mind you with my body being a mess my mind being sharp is a small price to pay. I love my mind, I just wish that I could sleep when I need to not when my mind wants me too.

I love my creativity and I always will, I may not be able to draw or paint but I sure as hell can paint a picture with words, my words can conjure up a picture of what ever it is I need.

Any way, this summer heat is making me sweat so I’m going to switch of the laptop and eat my cherries.

Have a excellent night

Simone. ❤

Hi Guys

I have been super busy working on Hell Hath No Fury and Poisoned By Blood Book Three, I have the sequel to Twisted Coven is planned out and ready once I have the other two squared away.

Today I wanted to talk about the pluses of having a support network around writers, whether they be signed, freelance, those wanting to write and those who were still deciding if they truly want to be a writer.

By nature the world or writing isn’t an easy one to be in. It is fought with judgement and angst. You may be told no 20, 100, 300 times before being signed, J. K. Rowling was rejected 12 times before the Harry Potter series was signed, Stephen King’s Carrie was rejected 30 times before being published. It’s part of the job, perseverance and willing to listen to feedback are the best thing’s for a writer to have in their back pocket.

I have received some negative feed back and attention and I’ll show you a few examples and tell you on how to deal with them.

First a review from Shattered Souls

bad review 1

I have redacted the name to protect the person in question. This was a bad review in a sea of four and five star reviews. I was upset when I saw this, I will admit that I did shed a tear but I realized that it was merely a troll, a person who was out to hurt as troll are. You can do nothing about trolls, nothing but ignore them and move on.

Here’s a review for Spilt Blood

Bad review 2

This review is constructive, meaning that instead of five words with no true meaning and are not the slightest bit helpful. They give pointers on how the books going forward can be improved and how they can be better. They advise the use of Beta readers, which is now something I do now. They do question the main characters age state that it would be better if she was older, this is something I debated on this as I wrote the book but her age is important further in the series, in book four. The comment about the ‘rushed’ feel of the book, that was purposeful as their is a serial killer around and they are hunting him before he kills too many people, they don’t really have the time to do much else. Though I think I could have done a bit more character building and relationship building.

Authors are, by nature, solitary nature and we like to work in our own cocoon but we do need a good network of support around us. I am extremely lucky that my Mum and Dad (Stepdad) have always been there, pushing me to be better. I have an awesome husband who believes in me even when I don’t believe in myself. I have an awesome publisher with Vamptasy Publishing, the website is being updated at the moment but it does show several of our awesome writers on their. I also have several fans although I’m only a beginner in this job and they are loyal and that is astounding to me. Having people around to help bring you up when you get that rejection letter or that bad review helps.

While I was lucky to get a yes early on and I love my book home and I would never change that ever in the world and I only hope that one day all authors find their book home.

Thankfully there is no negative review of Dark Side of Humanity yet nor has there been any for Twisted Coven yet, not on Amazon anyway.

I have a lot of things going on this year and I am hoping that my books grow in strength and that those who love it continue too do so. I have a group of people who seem to love my books and people that are happy to share my books on Twitter, Instagram and Facebook.

I am hoping to do a Facebook ad this weekend to help promote the books a little. I am busy, two book releases this year with more going on that are working on in the back ground hence why I’ve been quiet.

My main peaces of advise are as follows:-

  1. Take on the constructive criticism and use it going forward with more books and any re-releases.
  2. Let troll reviews slide off your back and move on.
  3. Make sure you have an awesome network around you.
  4. Don’t let rejection stop you.
  5. Learn, learn and learn. Read, read and read. Write, write and write.

I also know I need an editor as my dyslexia makes things hard work and tricky to do and I quite often miss mistakes, that’s another good thing about beta readers, they help with the process and help make things more coherent.

If there are any subjects you want me to take on please let me know and I’ll see what I can do.

Happy Writing

Hi Guys

I have had a two week break from writing, i needed it after six months of edits for both Dark Side of Humanity and Twisted Coven that is being released next month so once Twisted went to the editor I told my self it was time for a two week break.

I will say it was hard, very hard, to resist just doing one chapter, writing that chapter plan or just doing that one paragraph. It was unbelievably hard but I managed.

With each book I write, with each book that gets signed I learn more, I know my habits, I have a tendency to repeat things, I have a tendency to capitalize the first word after speech, I try to not do it but I do have a tendency to write said even though it is one of the worst things to do.

Life

I have been busy. I’ve emailed Spilt Bloods sequel to the boss lady and now i wait on tender hooks while she reads and gets back to me. I’ve renamed it to ‘The Dark Side of Humanity’, and I really like this one, its got darkness, passion, hate, venom and death. It gets smoking hot in there too.

There is more information on the relationship between the Master and Joslyn. CLICK HERE TO GET BOOK ONE!!

I am also super excited as in two weeks I am meeting probably my first ever celebrity crush at Sheffield Comicon. I will be meeting Michael Biehn, the star of Terminator, Aliens, Navy Seals, and so much more as well as the basis for Detective Brooks in ‘The Dark Side of Humanity’, and I am so excited. There’s also the Game of Thrones throne, which is exciting for the three that are with me, they are huge fans, me, not so much.

But its going to be fun, my disability badge has arrived so that I won’t have to walk to far. EDS and insomnia sucks and make life interesting. my mind is constantly moving and thinking hard about things. It is more than a little interesting when I read things back that I’ve written in a sleep deprived state.

So a busy time for me at the moment, including writing. I’m currently writing Hell Hath No fury too, the main character is based on my Best friends daughter, (who’s only a few years younger than me), and i can wait for you to see either of these, I’m also doing work on Night of the Demons 2, an anthology I’m in and I’m super excited.

Have an awesome Tuesday,

Simone

Hello,

Its Friday, thank goodness. What a week its been, productive but knackering. I’m currently on the verge of finishing Dirty Little secrets and doing the first major read through. Once it’s polished off to my publisher it will go.

I’m currently working while keeping a close eye on the British election to see if my mums got her seat in the Hyndburn election. I hope she does, she would be perfect for it as she takes no prisoners and always says it like I is.

I’m busy working on three books at the same time, I’m working on Dirty Little Secrets, the sequel to Spilt Blood along with Hell Hath No Fury and trying to get Twisted Coven ready and hopefully good enough to put on sale. I love being busy, its a good thing and helps me ignore other things. I am hoping to have a chill weekend and get some work done too.

Have a sunny weekend and stay happy

Simone

Hello guys

I enjoyed taking over a friends face book fan page yesterday and I shared a lot on their, I will share some here soon.

I have been a bit on the busy side, yet again, with writing Dirty Little Secrets, Poisoned By Blood book two, rewriting the basis for book three.  I’ve also been working on a few anthology submissions on day when my body allows.

Being a writer has one main advantage, other than entertaining others, of being a writer is that I can pick it up and put it down when I’m having a good pain day or when I’m having a bad pain day. It helps that my publishing company gives me a lot of understanding. They don’t judge me in anyway. Thankfully I have an excellent and wonderful husband, a brilliant family and a good network of friends that help me along.

Hi guys,

Its been a busy month, I’ve been working on anthology submissions and promotion for Spilt Blood while working on the sequel, when my body allows it to happen. We’re battling on, I just wish this damn recession would end and things go back to some form of normal.

Writing is a job and a manner of staying sane, I can put it down and pick it up when I have good days and bad days, I just wish the good outnumbered the bad. I am lucky with having supportive friends and family as well as my publisher, she’s super understanding and doesn’t push me too hard.

So much going on including an even coming up soon where I take over a friends facebook fan page, and I really can’t wait.

I need to get as much visibility as possible.

Happy writing guys

Simone

Hello Guys

So febuary has flown by while I’ve had a visit from my mother, whom I adore and take after, I’ve also been working on Spilt Bloods sequel along with several anthology submissions that have me excited. I’ve also had a bit of a flare up with the cursed EDS.

Trying to juggle all the different parts of my life can be a nightmare at times but it is something I am slowly learning to do and it makes me stronger when I get over these things. I’ve got a lot of appointments coming up along with the deadlines for submissions.

I have had a good few days with weight loss starting, thankfully, as I have a lot of weight to lose and as a writer and someone with mobility issues it doesn’t help with the weight loss but I am hoping that just a few changes to my life style with help get rid of the weight and keep it off. I have also received a four star review from the girls over at Nerdgirls for Spilt Blood, click here to check it out. I love all the feed back and take into mind as I write the sequel what has been said about the first.

It is odd that sometimes what someone really loves about the book another can’t really understand or get their head round. One common thread is that some feel the book was rushed. I will say that as the book surrounds a week between the protagonist’s arrival into Valdez and the end of the book, during which she’s hunting a serial killer the relationships begin with strange strength that is explored and detailed more in book two as is a few hidden sub plots. Stay with me you will enjoy the next instalment!!

Happy Weekend

Hello Guys

Hope all is well. I have been working hard on Spilt blood and the stuff for the Halloween event hosted by my fellow authors at Vamptasy and CHBB. I am enjoying working hard and I’m promoting Shattered Souls in online groups with a hand full of posters. Here’s a taste.

I love them, I’ve done a few for the release of Spilt Blood but will release them on Halloween Night along with a little something extra. I have been looking forward to this release, I love the book and while there is a love story within it there is a lot of scary an paranormal things within and as the series continues things get sexier and darker.

I am also very humbled to have you all reading this and interacting. I’m hoping to do a blog only give away when the book release, I’m not sure of the give away yet but I’m looking forward to you all reading my new release.

Stay tuned for more teaser

Hi,

I’ve been working hard on “Twisted Coven” and i now at page 123 of 178. Getting there, slowly.

Also toying with ideas for the cover but not quite sure yet. I want simple, eye catching and symbolic of the storyline inside.

Will have to rack my brain a little harder.

Anyone one want to step in with any idea’s.

“Two dead boys” is getting closer to completetion. Then it will need to be proof read.

Zombie Joe, think you will enjoy the ending for it. *HINT*

So, I’m off to be now as I have a busy day tomorrow and can not wait to see the visitors that are coming.

Stay tuned and again I am so sorry for my two week anbsence. I was really ill.
