Hi,

When I say I have been busy is an understatement. I have finished Poisoned By Blood Book and I think I’ve decided on a title. I had decided on one title but it was too similar to a book I already have out and the second choice is one that seems to be popular so I have decided on another, a third and with a little luck it won’t be too bad.

I am already part way through the edits an then off to the boss it goes. I also have some good things planned, with a little luck I’ll be able to lock in London soon, just waiting on a few things to fit in to place.

I currently have my Mum on a visit and I’m knee deep in crochet products that I’m making that are gifts.

Add to that I am working hard on my YouTube Channel, both of them.

Yes I am a glutton for punishment and I know I’m taking on a lot but I record when I can’t sleep and write during the days, so I balance it out and don’t face myself with too much. I also go live on YouTube, YouNow and Twitch. Click for the channels and come and chat with me some time.

I do video’s about various different things and call out shadiness in all walks of like, YouTube and other areas of the Internet as well as other area’s of live, i.e government, healthcare and such. I did a video last week about a situation that Philip DeFranco, a good man with a good heart, brought to ever ones attention. I wanted nothing more than to reach into the screen and shake some sense into them. I had to talk about it, I couldn’t not. I was seeing red. Watch it here, Philips video’s are in the I card in the right hand corner as well as video’s from a few other creators.

I am not a drama channel as I couldn’t care less about some people, I tell the truth about things that affect people under age and those who don’t know better as well as telling my story when it comes to somethings I have seen and don’t agree with.

Sometimes I think people should pass a test for having a YouTube channel. I have around 5 video’s banked for while Mum’s over but I’ll still be editing the new book so I’ll be busy while she here.

Anyway that’s enough of me ranting. Click here for my books.

Have an awesome evening

Hi Guys

I have been super busy working on Hell Hath No Fury and Poisoned By Blood Book Three, I have the sequel to Twisted Coven is planned out and ready once I have the other two squared away.

Today I wanted to talk about the pluses of having a support network around writers, whether they be signed, freelance, those wanting to write and those who were still deciding if they truly want to be a writer.

By nature the world or writing isn’t an easy one to be in. It is fought with judgement and angst. You may be told no 20, 100, 300 times before being signed, J. K. Rowling was rejected 12 times before the Harry Potter series was signed, Stephen King’s Carrie was rejected 30 times before being published. It’s part of the job, perseverance and willing to listen to feedback are the best thing’s for a writer to have in their back pocket.

I have received some negative feed back and attention and I’ll show you a few examples and tell you on how to deal with them.

First a review from Shattered Souls

bad review 1

I have redacted the name to protect the person in question. This was a bad review in a sea of four and five star reviews. I was upset when I saw this, I will admit that I did shed a tear but I realized that it was merely a troll, a person who was out to hurt as troll are. You can do nothing about trolls, nothing but ignore them and move on.

Here’s a review for Spilt Blood

Bad review 2

This review is constructive, meaning that instead of five words with no true meaning and are not the slightest bit helpful. They give pointers on how the books going forward can be improved and how they can be better. They advise the use of Beta readers, which is now something I do now. They do question the main characters age state that it would be better if she was older, this is something I debated on this as I wrote the book but her age is important further in the series, in book four. The comment about the ‘rushed’ feel of the book, that was purposeful as their is a serial killer around and they are hunting him before he kills too many people, they don’t really have the time to do much else. Though I think I could have done a bit more character building and relationship building.

Authors are, by nature, solitary nature and we like to work in our own cocoon but we do need a good network of support around us. I am extremely lucky that my Mum and Dad (Stepdad) have always been there, pushing me to be better. I have an awesome husband who believes in me even when I don’t believe in myself. I have an awesome publisher with Vamptasy Publishing, the website is being updated at the moment but it does show several of our awesome writers on their. I also have several fans although I’m only a beginner in this job and they are loyal and that is astounding to me. Having people around to help bring you up when you get that rejection letter or that bad review helps.

While I was lucky to get a yes early on and I love my book home and I would never change that ever in the world and I only hope that one day all authors find their book home.

Thankfully there is no negative review of Dark Side of Humanity yet nor has there been any for Twisted Coven yet, not on Amazon anyway.

I have a lot of things going on this year and I am hoping that my books grow in strength and that those who love it continue too do so. I have a group of people who seem to love my books and people that are happy to share my books on Twitter, Instagram and Facebook.

I am hoping to do a Facebook ad this weekend to help promote the books a little. I am busy, two book releases this year with more going on that are working on in the back ground hence why I’ve been quiet.

My main peaces of advise are as follows:-

  1. Take on the constructive criticism and use it going forward with more books and any re-releases.
  2. Let troll reviews slide off your back and move on.
  3. Make sure you have an awesome network around you.
  4. Don’t let rejection stop you.
  5. Learn, learn and learn. Read, read and read. Write, write and write.

I also know I need an editor as my dyslexia makes things hard work and tricky to do and I quite often miss mistakes, that’s another good thing about beta readers, they help with the process and help make things more coherent.

If there are any subjects you want me to take on please let me know and I’ll see what I can do.

Hello Readers

Another post so soon, I know, my early New Years resolution is to keep my multiple blogs up to date, Yes multiple, Here, tumblr and TSU along with my instargram, twitter, facebook and linkedin accounts. I love my job and I am finally getting my head around they whole self promotion aspect of being a writer and sharing my tales with others.

I love the act of writing and find it relaxing. It has been something I’ve been doing since childhood, obviously my writing has evolved through the years. I recently went through some of my old writing stuff and I released how bad some of my early work is. I am finding ways of working around my damn dyslexia and the EDS is being a royal pain in the butt as my wrist, thumb and first finger are slightly out of place which makes typing a little painful but I can write long hand as its my left hand that’s not so well and I write with both but predominantly my write.

I have some things planed or my upcoming book release, some will be after Christmas and I have 11 books to give away during the release as well as a few other upcoming treats that I am currently working on, one of which includes recycling a few old books of mine.

I’m in love with the series and I think think you guys will fall in love with it too.

Starting work on book two soon and submissions for a few anthologies so my brain is still hard at work.

Hi guys,

I mentioned in my last post a book, anthology compiled by several different and talented author titled ‘Bloody Sexy’.

I read the book in a matter of days and here’s my review.

A new release from Vamptasy Publishing is Bloody Sexy, a compilation of short sexy sultry stories with twists that will keep you reading. The poetry excelled and worked with the overall concept of the anthology.
I enjoyed the fact that the tales began with the thought that it was about one thing and the twists turn it into some you’re not expecting and it goes in a different direction.
The quality of the writing was excellent making the reading the words easy and enjoyable. Nothing was over written or overly complex ensuring entertainment without losing your place.
The book is filled with adult content and involves sexual lust with other situations that only serve to enhance the readers experience.
I recommend the book for all those over eighteen.

It’s a steal at the price of 99c (USA) or 77p (UK).

Happy writing.

Enjoy the book.

Hello friends,

This is a short post in preparation for a bigger one later today.

I have some news to share, which is the topic of the larger post, and i am currently getting prepared for several events including baking birthday cakes, Dr Who cookies, short stories and more.

My stationary obsession is being feed by the back to school stationary sales on in almost every shop I go to. Its torture and I give in way too much but being a writer means it will all come in useful.

I love writing, I live reading and I still struggle to believe that I have a book on sale. Its an easy read, short novel with twists and turns. I love the review my fellow Vamptasy writer gave me. Its a little further down. She’s an award winning author and she loved my book and was instrumental in getting it where it is. Click below to get your copy.

So stay tuned for my excellent news later today.

Hello guys,

Here is my interview of award winning author Carmilla Voiez.

Interview Questions
Carmilla Voiez
Starblood Trilogy and more

Carmilla, a Scotland based author, is the creator of various book including the popular Starblood Trilogy and has an excellent book due for release next month. She was also pivotal in getting my Novel, ‘Shattered Souls’ published, and I have had the honour to beta read her next release in June. A book that, in my humble opinion, is an excellent novel and she is extremely talented.

1/ For those who haven’t read the Starblood Trilogy novels, that have just been released in a single book, could you give a hint of what the book is about?

It’s a story set in the Gothic subculture about a young man who is a talented magician (in the Crowley sense of the word) but a terrible boyfriend. He cannot cope with his girlfriend leaving him and his “solution” starts a chain reaction unleashing a millennia old demon on earth.

2/ How has your life changed in any way with the success of the books?

It hasn’t changed really. I’m still doing the same stuff I did before. I just have a few more friends on Facebook.

3/ You have a high level of involvement in the Vamptasy publishing and its two sister companies do you enjoy helping your fellow authors?

Of course. I love supporting other people’s talents especially artistic ones.

4/ Which writer(s) do you look up to?

Clive Barker, Haruki Murakami, Storm Constantine and Neil Gaimen among many others.

5/ In the last two years I’ve known you. you have won several awards are you hoping for a repeat this year?

Well I’m Fright Venture Author of the Year 2014.

6/ Working for Vamptasy on the promotion and marketing side you have read work from new authors, have you enjoyed helping to bring them into our crazy family?

I don’t think I have as much sway in the publishing company as you imagine. I’m just a humble author.

7/ Who do you think has the talent and ability to go far?

I think we all do. Most of it depends on luck.

10563434_718183631579324_998367754_n

8/ How did you become a part of our publishing family?

I joined Vamptasy when it was based in Aberdeen, Scotland. It was taken over by CHBB about 6 months later.

9/ Are you looking forward to your new release?

Very much so. I love anthologies as it exposes my readers to lost of new talent.

10/ You’re incredibly busy with Vamptasy publishing company, hot ink press, crushed heart, your blog, your website, you’re YouTube channel, and your podcast how do you find the time to write?

Apart from during the summer holidays when my kids suck energy from me like vampires, I can always find time to write. It’s my primary goal in life. It’s housework, cooking, eating, sleeping and drinking that I struggle to fit in.

11/ Who pushed you to get published?

A fellow writer on an Open University Creative Writing course called Rick.

10566632_718183691579318_1542532795_n

12/ When did you realise you could be a professional writer?

I still don’t really believe it, lol.

13/ Who do you lean on?

I don’t think I lean on anyone. I’m pretty self-reliant. But my friends are very important to me.

14/ Have you ever hit writers block/brick wall?

Yes. I tend to run or walk it out.

10567403_718183764912644_984317277_n

15/ Have you ever written a book and while editing ending up almost completely re-writing it?

Often.

16/ What or who is your biggest muse?

My characters become muses as I write them. The sea is like a palette cleanser in between stories.

17/ How many proof reads/edits do you usually go through per book?

Over 20.

18/ Did you know when you were at school that you wanted to be a writer?

Yes, but I didn’t expect it to happen.

19/ How do you generate your characters? Do you case them physically on actors or make them up completely?

I make them up but infuse them with parts of myself and people I know.

21/ Last question. How many book are you currently working on?

I’m working on two graphic novels and two short stories at the moment.
